Testing Information

As part of the application process, Sandy Spring Friends School requires specific test results depending on the division to which the applicant is applying.

Our deadline for application is January 1. Please be sure to schedule your child's testing date as soon as possible to ensure receipt of the results by the Admission Office in a timely manner.

LOWER SCHOOL - GRADES PK-5 TESTING

Applicants to Grades PK-5 are required to take either the WPPSI or WISC-IV. The appropriate test is determined by the age of the applicant.

DIRECTORY OF EDUCATIONAL DIAGNOSTIC CENTERS: These are suggested diagnostic centers. We will accept testing from other licensed practitioners.

MIDDLE SCHOOL - GRADES 6-8 TESTING

Applicants to Grades 6-8 are required to take one of the following tests:
ISEE (Sandy Spring Friends School Code 210937) - http://www.iseetest.org
SSAT (Sandy Spring Friends School Code 7090) - http://www.ssat.org
In addition to the national test sites, some individual testers offer administration of the SSAT. Please check the SSAT website for additional information.

UPPER SCHOOL - GRADES 9-12 TESTING (domestic and international applicants)

Domestic applicants to Grades 9-12 are required to take one of the following tests:
ISEE (Sandy Spring Friends School Code 210937) - http://www.iseetest.org
SSAT (Sandy Spring Friends School Code 7090) - http://www.ssat.org

For students applying to 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, a recent PSAT score will be accepted in lieu of the SSAT or ISEE.

Non-native English speakers who are international applicants are required to submit the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) to satisfy the testing requirement. To register for TOEFL, visit their website at www.ets.org/toefl and register online. Our school code is 7529.

Native English speakers who are international applicants are required to submit the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). Visit their website and register on-line at www.ssat.org or call SSAT at (609) 683-4440 to request a Student Registration Guide. The school code number for Sandy Spring Friends School is 7090.
